Fifth Anniversary Ride Fetes Night Riders Union
To mark the fifth anniversary of the
first night ride and to induct new members, the Night Riders Union of
Seattle will host a ride Saturday, Sept. 28 at 9 p.m.
To RSVP, go to the official union
website and send a note using the union grievance form on the right.
You will be mailed a map to the location, easily accessibly by
bicycle, but also by car, if that is your predilection. Ample parking
will be available.
The ride is open to any and all comers
and will clock in at 20-25 miles, the minimum mileage to make it an
official night ride, thus automatically inducting all riders into the
union.
"It's an exciting opportunity for
veteran riders to reflect on the union's heritage, and and an even
more exciting opportunity for new members to join up," said
union President Q. "I'm looking forward to some fellowshipping.
And hash. There's probably going to be hash there. If that's not an
exciting opportunity, then slap my ass."
The designated route will be easy, the
pace will be leisurely, and there will be just one moderate hill. The
route will follow the original path taken by Handsome Jack and
Secretary Bobby Gentle in September, 2008. For experienced night
riders, expect to go slow. For new riders, expect sore butts and
rubber band legs the next day.
